Advent 2010 - Day One

Evelyn and I are exploring Advent this year. We are using an advent Calendar and then also doing the ABC's of Advent. We placed the "gift marker" into the number one pocket on our Advent Calendar and then began. Today, December 1st, is the first day. And today is "A is for Angels". We started out reading Luke 2:8-14 "Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" After we read the scripture, I asked Evelyn to tell me what Angels are. Her reply: "An Angel is a pyramid and it flies off the grass." We talked for a few moments about how God created Angels to show His glory, to be His messengers and that Angels protect His children. We sang "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and Evelyn and Beckett both sang along ;) Evelyn did catch on to one line "Glory to the King" - and isn't that the most important one? After our song, we prayed. "Dear God thank you for the Angels. Thank you for showing your cre...

Perfectionism - at it's worst

It's been a while, a long while, since I have blogged. But a few weeks ago God sat me down at the computer one day and made me write this...seriously I just had to put into words the transformation that is happening in my life. So, I am going to step outside of my usual self and post something very vulnerable. The funny thing is that this blog is the perfect place to do it, because I created this blog really wanting to be perfect. To show others that I am a perfect mom and wife, haha! I had goals I wanted achieve and for the most part, if I set my mind to it, I did it. However, there were some things that I just didn’t do well, and in those cases, I would quit. See, ...

Colds & Creativity

So during the night (Tuesday) Beckett started coughing and having a hard time breathing out of his nose...I can't help but feel extremely frustrated that my one month old baby is sick! I am breastfeeding and none of the rest of us have been sick...plus the few places we have taken him, we have not really allowed people to hold him. It is hard when you try and take every precaution and they still end up sick. I had RSV when I was about his age, and so I am just praying that this cold does not turn into something more serious, which I know with infants, it can. I would certainly appreciate prayers for Beckett :) Yesterday was "Day 3" of "The Very Hungry Evelyn" book project. She painted 3 plums using watercolors and then ate a plum for the very first time...and she LOVED it! If nothing else this project is a great way to try some new fruits, and see if your children like them. Here are some pics: I love fall...Everything about it. I love the smells, the breeze, ...
